Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
A high-ranking official said the incident made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
